International Maritime Conference: Nigerian Navy 68th Anniversary Ends On High Note
The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla and the Nigerian Navy (NN) hosted Day 2 & Closing Ceremony of the International Maritime Conference (IMC) on Friday 31 May 2024.
Day 2 of IMC witnessed the presentation of a paper titled “Leveraging Maritime Security Collaboration for Harnessing Blue Economy in Africa:Strategies and Mechanisms for Success” delivered by Dr. Paul Adalikwu and moderated by Rear Admiral Patrick Hayden.
The IMC, themed, “Promoting Blue Economy in Africa through International Cooperation on Maritime Security” ended on high note with the reading of the Conference Communique by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Rear Admiral JD Akpan.
Thereafter, the Honorable Minister of State for Defence, His Excellency, Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle gave the closing remarks.
Earlier, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (OFR) was taken on a tour of NN facilities & projects at Naval Dockyard Limited (NDL).
Later in the day, the CNS hosted a meeting of Chiefs of Naval Staff/CoastGuards of Gulf of Guinea Region (CGG-GGC) to discuss the modalities of the Combined Maritime Task Force (CMTF). The deliberations were fruitful and progress was made towards its operationalization.
