International Maritime Institute Of Nigeria Concludes Its Maiden Workshop On Maritime Security and Blue Economy

The International Maritime Institute of Nigeria (IMION), in collaboration with Sequential Development Solutions, has concluded a workshop which was aimed at improving maritime security within Nigerian waters on Friday13 September 2024.

In his closing remark, the Director General (DG) of IMION, Rear Admiral Thaddeus Udofia (Rtd) urged the participants of the 5-Day Maritime Security and Blue Economy workshop to ensure that the outcomes from the sessions of the workshop are integrated into their respective organisations. The DG also said that the multifaceted crimes that occur within the maritime environment can be tackled head on with the implementation of the resolutions of the workshop which included strengthening cooperation with national and international maritime stakeholders, increased compliance with environmental regulations and sustainable practices as well as contributing to the sustainable development of Nigeria’s maritime sector.

The DG congratulated all the participants for a successful completion of the workshop and equally thanked the Nigerian Navy under the able leadership of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla for the support the workshop received.
