Intelligence gathered that suspected Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists have abducted two Cholera aid workers in Biu LGA of Borno State.
Sources say the terrorists, on Sunday August 1 stormed the town on Motorcycles and a vehicle and abducted two staff members under the Biu Local Government Area (LGA) Primary Health Care department.
Intelligence also gathered that the workers had gone to the location to carry out activities linked to a cholera immunisation campaign when they were abducted. They are also field volunteers for an Intergovernmental Organisation (IO).
It was learnt that the assailants accused the victims of spying for the government and left the location with the victims without harming anyone. This prompted locals in the area to go to the ISWAP camp and inform them that the victims were in the village to assist in curtailing the skreak if the Cholera outbreak.
Sources disclose that after the conversation between the terrorists and the locals, the abductees were released around 6pm.
However, before releasing them, the ISWAP terrorists took the drugs and vehicle belonging to the LGA Primary Health Care Department.
