Juma’at Prayer and Interdenominational Church Service Held In Minna To Honour Fallen Heroes

The Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), 31 Artillery Bde and the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), all in Minna, held a combined Jumu’at prayer and Interdenominational Church Service, as part of activities to commemorate the Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day holding on 15 January 2026. The prayer and church service were part of the activities to honour serving personnel, and fallen heroes who gave their lives for nation.

Attendees included senior military officers from Nigerian Army and Nigerian Air Force, NAOWA members, and other dignitaries. In his remarks, the Commander, TRADOC NA, Major General Peter Malla, urged attendees to remember the sacrifices of colleagues and loved ones, highlighting the patriotism of heroes who died for Nigeria’s peace and security. He paid tribute to late Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, and other Armed Forces personnel who paid supreme sacrifice for the nation.

Major General Malla thanked the Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs for guiding the ongoing nationwide remembrance activities. He also thanked the Governor of Niger State, Farmer Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, for his support to the Armed Forces in the state.

The Officiating Priest, St Luke’s Military Church (Protestant), Minna Military Cantonment, Lieutenant Colonel (Rev) Ayuba Usman, drew inspiration from the books of John 13:34-35 and Matthew 5:9, urging attendees to embody love, unity, and peace. He noted that fallen heroes’ sacrifices reflect the highest form of love. Rev Usman prayed for families of fallen heroes, asking God to grant them comfort, strength, and peace.

The congregation joined in prayer, seeking God’s protection for Nigeria’s Armed Forces, peace in Nigeria, and eternal rest for fallen heroes.

The Juma’at Prayer and Interdenominational Church Service were held at Cantonment Central Mosque and Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Minna Military Cantonment on 9 and 11 January respectively.
