
Kano Police Concludes 3-Day Explosive Ordinance Risk Awareness Campaign For Scrap Dealers and Scavengers
The Kano State Police Command, in collaboration with the National Association of Scraps and Waste Dealers Employers of Nigeria, Kano Chapter, successfully concluded a 3-Day Explosive Ordinance Risk Awareness and Sensitization Campaign across strategic locations in Kano State. The campaign, held from 9th to 11th September 2025, targeted scrap dealers, scavengers, and the general public to educate them on the risks associated with explosive ordinances and the necessary precautions to take when encountering such devices.
The locations visited included:
– Tashar Yankaba in Nassarawa LGA
– Kasuwar Kwanar Ungogo in Ungogo LGA
– Kofar Waika in Gwale LGA
2. The campaign was led by CSP Cyprian Dariya, Base Commander, Explosive Ordinance Disposal-Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN), Kano, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD. CSP Dariya provided valuable tips on how to safely approach and handle situations involving suspected explosive items, emphasizing the following critical steps:
– Do not move further
– Step back
– Do not touch
– Call Police EOD-CBRN Operatives
These steps are designed to minimize the risk of harm and ensure the safe disposal of explosive devices.

The National Association of Scraps and Waste Dealers Employers of Nigeria, Kano Chapter, expressed their delight and appreciation to the Kano State Police Command for organizing this crucial campaign. The Association’s Vice Chairman, Alhaji Salisu Haruna Abubakar, commended the Command’s proactive approach to enhancing public safety and security, particularly in the scraps and waste management sector.
