Kanye West Explains Why He Must Run for President in 2020
In a new interview with BBC Radio 1 show, Kanye West spoke up for the first time in a long while, about his dreams of becoming the president of the United States of America, and the top rapper said he is choosing tot tow that path because of humanity.
“When I talk about the idea of being president, I’m not saying I have any political views,” the ‘Stronger’ rapper told BBC’s Anne Mac. “I just have a view on humanity, on people, on the truth. ”
Recall that Ye announced his decision to run for office last August, while receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards. That unprecedented declaration stirred a lot of think-pieces stretching from the New Yorker and the New York times, to other top media networks and celebrity blogs who put up polls, asking readers if they would vote for Kanye West.
Weeks after, in his interview with Vanity, Ye told Vanity Fair he has a lot of research to do.
“I sit in clubs and I’m like, Wow, I’ve got five years before I go and run for office and I’ve got a lot of research to do, I’ve got a lot of growing up to do,” he continued, adding, “My dad has two masters degrees. My mom has a PhD, she used to work at Operation PUSH. Somehow the more and more creative I get, the closer and closer I get to who I was as a child.”
Now, Kim Kardashian’s husband tells us why he may be making that move, and it is all because he has seen a lot of wrongs in the United States system.
“We are numb, we’re numb to 500 kids getting killed in Chicago a year, we’re numb to the fact that it was seven police shootings in the beginning of July,” he said, adding, “If there is anything that I can do with my time and my day, to somehow make a difference while I’m alive I’m going to try to do it.”
United States, behold thy Presidential Aspirant!
