
Karim Lamido Crisis: Commander 6 Brigade Engages Stakeholders, Reaffirms Commitment To Peace and Unity In Taraba State
In line with ongoing efforts to address security challenges, safeguard lives and property, and promote peaceful coexistence among the diverse communities in Taraba State, the Commander 6 Brigade Nigerian Army (NA) and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, on Tuesday 19 August 2025, hosted key stakeholders from Karim-Lamido Local Government Area (LGA) at Headquarters 6 Brigade, Jalingo.
The high-level engagement brought together representatives of the Fulani, Bandawa, Munga Lelau, and Munga Dosso communities with the aim of sustaining peace dialogues, deepening mutual understanding, and fostering reconciliation. The meeting was a follow-up to the Commander’s earlier engagement in Karim-Lamido on 5 August 2025, during which he met directly with stakeholders to rebuild trust and promote lasting peace.
In his remarks, Brigadier General Uwa stressed that peace goes beyond the absence of conflict, noting that it embodies justice, mutual respect, and understanding among communities. He described the meeting as a demonstration of the collective will of the people of Karim-Lamido to live in harmony, while reaffirming the Nigerian Army’s commitment to work with all stakeholders to ensure that peace is not only restored but sustained. He further commended the courage of the stakeholders in uniting for the progress of the area, stressing that “Together, we can build a safer, stronger Taraba State.”
The Chairman of Karim-Lamido LGA, Hon. Bitrus Danjos, also described the event as historic. While acknowledging the diverse backgrounds of the communities, he underscored their shared identity as residents of Karim-Lamido. He expressed appreciation to the Brigade Commander for his proactive leadership and to the communities for choosing dialogue over division, urging them to embrace unity and progress.
Similarly, representatives of the Fulani, Bandawa, Munga Lelau, and Munga Dosso communities reaffirmed their commitment to reconciliation, peace, and mutual respect. They expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Army and the Local Government Chairman for facilitating the dialogue, pledging to work together for the development of their communities and to prioritize unity over conflict.
At the conclusion of the engagement, all stakeholders unanimously resolved to embrace peace and strengthen cooperation in the interest of collective security and development.
