Katsina Police Command loses officer

Katsina State Police Command has lost one of its officers, Sabo Umar, in road accident. He was the Divisional Police Officer of Musawa Police Station.

The Command spokesman,SP Gambo Isah, confirmed the development on Thursday evening.

He said the officer was returning to his station on Wednesday evening after attending a meeting on the implementation of the recent Security Containment orders at the command headquarters when the accident occurred.

It was learnt that Umar’s vehicle was involved in a head on collision with a truck, few kilometres away to his destination, resulting in his death.

His corpse was thereafter moved to a morgue at the General hospital, Katsina while arrangements have been concluded to transport it to his hometown, Tangaya in Sokoto state for burial.

SP Isah said, “The DPO was here at the headquarters with other district officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the DSS and other security agencies to perfect operational plans with regards the new Security Containment measures put in place by Katsina state Government with the Commissioner of police, CP Buba Sanusi as Chairman of the implementation committee.

“After the meeting, the DSP was on his way back to Musawa, just ten kilometres away in Matazu Local Government Area, he had a head on collision with a truck; that is where he lost his life.”

He said the Command was grateful to Governor Aminu Masari for his intervention and provision of relief support for the family of the late police officer.
