Koffi Olomide Celebrates Freedom From Jail, Shares First Family Selfie
Koffi Olomide seems undeterred by the charges filed against him, because, yesterday, after he was released on bail, the rhumba singer quickly took to Facebook to share his first family selfie.
He wrote this on his Facebook page:
“At Home with family. …. thank you is a word too simple. What I would like to express is above it. I am both touched and grateful for the unwavering support that you have brought me, I can never thank you enough.”
Olomide was freed on bail yesterday in Kinshasa, Congo, after he was arrested for kicking his female singer in Kenya. Recall that after the 60-year-old Congolese singer was captured on camera attacking a female dancer, Kenyans demanded for his arrest and deportation and hours later, he was kicked out of the east African country.
Confirming his bail, his lawyer, Benoit Tayeye, told AFP:
“Prosecutors granted bail to Koffi Olomide because he does not present a flight risk. The defence has shown that the singer has a known residence, is a famous music star and his principal interests are here in DRC.”
However, the assault and battery charges were not dropped. The singer had previously, in 2012, been given a 3-month suspended sentence for assaulting his producer. If found guilty of assaulting a female, he faces up to 6 months in jail.
