Korean Ambassador, Kim Pankyu Lauds EFCC’s Anti-corruption Fight
The Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, Kim Pankyu, has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on its sustained efforts to stamp out economic and financial crimes and corruption in the country.
He gave the commendation in Lagos on Thursday, November 21, 2024 when he led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the office of the acting Director of the Lagos Zonal Directorate of the EFCC, Michael T. Wetkas.
Speaking during the brief meeting, Pankyu praised the EFCC for its tireless efforts in combating economic and financial crimes in the country and also pledged to support its activities.
While highlighting what he described as the significant presence of Korean companies in the country, he disclosed that many more Korean businessmen “are eager to invest in the country.”
“To facilitate this growth, I would like to enjoin the Commission to create a more secure environment for our investors,” he added.
Responding, Wetkas assured the Korean Ambassador and his team of the Commission’s commitment to continuously create a secure environment for businesses to thrive in Nigeria.
According to him, “One of the major reasons for the creation of EFCC is to ensure a conducive and secure business environment for local and foreign businesses to thrive.”
He also emphasized the EFCC’s efforts in fighting crimes in Nigeria and pledged to assist existing and aspiring investors to tackle any challenge that may arise during their business operations in the country.
Wetkas further expressed optimism that the visit would grow into a robust and fruitful partnership between the EFCC and the Korean Embassy.
