Lagos CP and Commander Man-O-War Lagos Command Seeks Enhanced Collaboration Synergy With Brigade Nigerian NA
The Commissioner of Police (CP), Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, has solicited for enhanced collaboration and synergy with 9 Brigade Nigerian Army (NA). The CP made the request when he paid a courtesy visit to Headquarters 9 Brigade NA, TA Lagbaja Cantonment, Ikeja, on 16 April 2025. CP Jimoh also called on the senior officers of the Brigade to please admonish the young soldiers against interagency rivalry as he has been working hard to ensure his men respect every soldier and other men in uniform on the street.
In his response, the Commander 9 Brigade NA, Brigadier General Olawale Mathew Oyekola, thanked the CP for the visit and said that so far, he has enjoyed working with the Police in Lagos State. He said he believed in working with everybody in the security circle, which prompted his visit to all the federal and state security organisations when he assumed command of 9 Brigade in August last year. He said he believed that if everyone succeeds in what they are doing, the work of the military will be less, and it is for that reason that synergising with them is paramount to him.
In a similar vein, the State Commander Man-O-War Nigeria, Lagos State Command, Engineer Lucky Williams Onimowo paid a visit to Commander 9 Brigade NA on15 April 2025. Engineer Onimowo thanked the NA for engaging them in its previous exercises such as CROCODILE SMILE and STILL WATER, which he described as a wonderful and unforgettable experience. He said the purpose of his visit is to strengthen the existing relationships with the brigade and plegde their readiness to support the 9 Brigade operations in areas of intelligence gathering and sharing. He pleaded with Brigade Commander to help the organisation with mobility for ease of its operations.
Brigadier General Oyekola in his response, said that he is happy that Man-O-War is coming to offer support in the area of intelligence gathering/sharing as they have their ranks within the populace. He said the issue of “One Chance” is resurfacing in Lagos, which both the military and the police are working tirelessly to get the perpetrators of such act. He said the Man-O-War, could be veritable source of information to get the syndicates behind the heinous acts for resulted oriented operations. On the issue of mobility for the organisation, Brigadier General Oyekola said the vehicles in the brigade were either issued by the NA authority or Lagos State Government. Thus, efforts would be made to present their request to the Lagos State Government to engender more support, while an interim measure would be sought to aleviate the pressure being faced due to lack of operational vehicle by the organisation.
The visits featured endorsement of visitors’ book, group photographs, and presentation of souvenirs.
