Logistics: Multi-Dimensional Discipline That Underpins Military Effectives – Commandant NACOLM Tells Students

‎The Commandant, Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM) Major General Adewale Collins Adetoba has described logistics as a dynamic and multi-dimensional discipline that underpins military effectiveness. Adding that through combining historical insights, modern technologies and adaptive leadership models, military organisations can achieve success, sustained its readiness and resilience in its operations.

He stated this during his inaugural lecture titled “Ethical Leadership in Military Logistics: Enhancing Operational Support in Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous Environment” delivered to students of Logistics Staff Course (LSC) 23 of 2026.

The course which comprise 22 officers of the ranks of Majors and Captains, were inaugurated at the Ogomudia Hall, at the Moloney Campus in Lagos on Monday, 26 January 2026.

The Commandant who was also the Special Guests of Honour at the ceremony, urged the students to desist from any negative act that could tarnish their image and reputation of the College. He charged them to work hard and disabuse their minds of any bias or negative perceptions regarding the course and focus on what they hope to achieve while on the course.

Major General Adetoba, while delivering his inaugural address, reiterated that NACOLM was established in 2002 with the initial mandate to train Logisticians for the Nigerian Army (NA). As such, the College was running only the Logistics Staff Course (LSC) and Logistics Management Course (LMC). However, the NA expanded the mandate of the College to include the training of Direct Regular Commissioned Officers on Management, Leadership and Staff duties in order to further enhance their capacity. This he disclosed, marked the introduction of 2 additional courses; Senior Leadership and Staff Officers Course (SLSOC) and Junior Leadership and Staff Officers Course (JLSOC) in 2022. The Commandant also noted that, the College is poised to produce efficient logisticians and staff-trained officers with requite leadership skills that are capable of effectively discharging their duties in both joint and combined operations, as well as hold staff appointments at higher levels using contemporary management concepts and techniques.

‎In his vote of thanks, the Directorate Logistics of the College, Colonel James Emuekpere appreciated the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM for his strategic leadership and continuous support to the College. He also appreciated the Commandant for the well-researched paper and the sound delivery. He further assured the Commandant of the readiness and determination of staff to support the Commandant in achieving his vision for the College.

‎The event was attended by members of sister service, professional bodies and partners of the College.
