Lt Col Mohammed Abu Ali: The Story Of A Hero
Lt Col Mohammed Abu Ali was the commander of 272 Tank Battalion in Mallam Fatori, a border town between Chad and Niger Republic where BokoHaram channeled rustled cattle in exchange for arms and ammunition.
With the total support of General Buratai, Abu Ali’s presence in Mallam Fatori put an end to this menace hence he became a prime target of the insurgents. Like Cristiano Ronaldo, Abu Ali was a mobile striker leading his battalion all the way from Mallam Fatori to retake cities like Munguno, Gamboru Ngala, New Marte, Bama, Gwoza, Banki Junction, Yale, Yanteke,Bita, Deruwa, Kangaruwa, Daira.
When the strategic Multinational Joint Task Force Headquarters in Baga fell and BokoHaram murdered over 2000 people, it was Abu Ali that led the battle that liberated the city. He was a nightmare to the terrorists. Abu Ali was master strategist and a very courageous commander who led from the front.
His exploits earned him accelerated promotion and numerous awards include those for courage and gallantry. Abu carried out these selfless service not for any reward, but for God and country.
On this day a year ago when the news of his demised filtered through, we were disoriented, shocked and despaired. We did not have the opportunity to reward and honour him for his efforts and sacrifice.
We thank Abu Ali and others who have put their lives on the line for the sake of humanity.
Please share the story of Mohammed Abu Ali so his name can remain written in gold on the good side of history.
