Maj Gen Emekah Official Announces The Close Of 6 Division Inter Brigade CPL and Below Competition

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division Nigerian Army/ Land Component Commander Joint Task Force Operation DELTA SAFE Major General Eric Emekah today 11 April 2025 officially announced the close of the 6 Division Inter Brigade Corporal and Below Competition 2025 at the 6 Battalion Obstacle Course, Wellington Bassey Barracks, Abak LGA. The 5-day competition kick-started on Monday, 7 April 2025 with a drill competition as part of the opening ceremony, which took place at 6 Battalion and culminated with the Physical

Fitness/ Obstacle crossing competition that took place at 6 Battalion Obstacle course.

This annual event aims to enhance leadership skills and foster team spirit among junior soldiers within the Division Area Of Operation (AOO) to equip them for more demanding roles. The participating units from the Division AOO included 2 Brigade, 16 Brigade, 63 Brigade, and 6 Division Garrison. Competitors engaged in various events such as drill competitions, map reading, weapon handling, range classification, combat swimming, 5 km run, physical fitness evaluations, and obstacle crossing.

The Special Guest of Honour (SGOH), the General Officer Commanding 6 Division/Land Component Commander Joint Task Force Operation DELTA SAFE, Major General Eric Emekah who was ably represented by the Commander 2 Brigade/ Sector 4 Joint Task Force Operation DELTA SAFE, Brig Gen Alexander Tawasimi in his remarks, noted that this event not only highlighted the outstanding skills, discipline, and collaboration of the soldiers but also reinforced the principles of excellence and camaraderie that characterizes the Nigerian Army (NA). The SGOH urged the troops to apply the lessons gained from the competition—discipline, teamwork, and resilience—in their service to the nation as they return to their respective units.

Participants from 2 Brigade secured the first position with a total of 560 points, followed by 6 Division Garrison in second place and 63 Brigade in third. The event saw the attendance of Commanders and Commandants from sister services, Heads of Paramilitary Organizations, Commanding Officers, Officers, Soldiers, and members of the barracks community.

The event was climaxed with the presentation of awards to individuals and formations that distinguished themselves in different categories of the events. Attached are pictures of formations that emerged first in different events.
