Maj Gen HT Usman Declares Open Inter Brigade WOs and SNCOs Competition 2024
The General Officer Commanding(GOC) 81 Division Nigerian Army(NA), Maj Gen MT Usman has on 24 June 2024 declared open the 81 Division Inter Brigade Warrant Officers(WOs) and Senior Non Commissioned Officers(SNCOs) Competition at 35 Artillery Brigade Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The Competition which is aimed at improving the combat proficiency of WOs and SNCOs and to enhance their leadership skills as well as organizational ability will equally test their endurance and promote esprit-de-corps.
In his remarks, the GOC stated that the Competition is one of the activities outline in the NA Forecast of Events for year 2024. He disclosed that the event is aimed at improving leadership traits, organizational ability and the initiative of WOs and SNCOs in the NA.
He therefore urged all the participants to put in their best so as to drive the maximum benefits from the Competition and also make their formations proud. He said the only way they could do this is by abiding by the rules and regulations guiding the competitions and to exhibit the spirit of sportsmanship.
He reminded the participants that globally, training has remained a fundamental precursor for every battle winning Army, adding that troops performance in peace and war is a direct result of the qualities of their training. He stated that training remains a veritable tool for enhanced military professionalism. He said the need for enhanced and adequate training in the NA is more needed now than ever as a result of the security challenges facing the Nation.
Speaking earlier, the Commander 35 Artillery Brigade, Brig Gen MT Aminu in his welcome remarks expressed his delight to welcome all to Alamala Barracks. He stated that a total of 120 personnel are expected to participate in the four events of the competition while urging participants to leap beyond their comfort zones in order to derive the maximum benefits from the Competition.
He further advised the participants to be mindful of their safety and that of their colleagues through out the period of the Competition.
He expressed his appreciation to the GOC, Maj Gen MT Usman for considering the Brigade worthy to host this year’s competition on behalf of the Division. He also thank the GOC for providing the logistics support for the exercise.
The participating units include 9 Brigade, 35 Artillery Brigade, 45 Engineer Brigade and 81 Division Garrison. The participants will compete intensively in Map Reading, Combat Swimming, Obstacle Crossing, Stripping and Assembling and live firing.
Highlights of the event were presentation of souvenirs to the Special Guest of Honour, other guests and group photograph.
