
Major General Adeyinka Adereti Assumes Command As The 35th Commander Corps Of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers
Memorable transition of command occurred today 5 November 2025, as Major General Adeyinka Ayodeji Adereti officially assumed leadership of Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (NAEME). The Handing and Taking Over ceremony took place at the Corps Headquarters, Bonny cantonment, Victoria Island Lagos state.
In his farewell remarks, the outgone Commander Major General BU Yahaya highlighted his experience detailing the challenges and successes of his tenure. He stated that the achievements of the Corps resulted from the capacity of troops to reinvent themselves in the discharge of their duties and roles in support of Nigerian Army goals. He appreciated officers and men of the Corps for their dedication during his tenure and commendation was also accorded to personnel of the Headquarters for their unwavering support during his time. He admonished all to stay committed to his successor in order to move the Corps to the next level. He also encouraged his successor to focus on efforts to reposition the Corps for productive and the NA’s operational success. He added that troops welfare should be given the required consideration in line with the soldiers first concept.
In his maiden remarks, the Commander Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (CCEME) expressed gratitude to the Almighty God for the successful Handing and Taking Over process and the confidence reposed in him by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt Gen W Shaibu to superintend over the affairs of the great, proud and elite Corps. Additionally, he commended his predecessor for his successful service record and expressed his readiness to follow his stride in proficiency, robustness, innovation and technological drive to achieve the corps’ objectives.
The CCEME also urged officers and men to develop the required mental posture to participate actively in the drive he intends to layout in order to develop technical competences and an enabling environment for a productive and enviable NAEME Corps. He wished his predecessor success as he retires from the Service. Prior to his appointment as the CCEME, he served as the Director Policy, Defence Headquarters Department of Defence Policy and Plans .
The climax of the event was a sendforth ceremony organized in honour of the Outgone CCEME at the Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers officers Mess, Marda Barracks Yaba, Lagos State. The occasion was attended by senior officers both serving and retired. The highlight of the event was the presence of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division Major General FU Mijinyawa. In his remarks the GOC 81 Division described Maj Gen BU Yahaya as a superior with exemplary character and leadership style. He appreciated the Outgone CCEME for his support to the Division and further wished him continued success in his future endeavours.
