Major General Ajunwa Assumes Command Of Armoured Corps, Calls For Rededication To Duty and Professionalism
Major General Obinna Ajunwa has assumed command as the 49th Commander Armoured Corps (CAC), today, 7 February 2025. He took over command in a colourful handing and taking over ceremony held at the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida Headquarters Complex of the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps (NAAC), Bauchi State.
While making his remarks, the CAC, Major General Obinna Ajunwa urged officers and soldiers of the NAAC to rededicate themselves to their duties and strive to always maintain the highest level of professionalism. This, he said is necessary in order to defeat the menace of Boko Haram/Islamic State of West Africa Province terrorists, using the capabilities of the Armoured Corps in the ongoing operations. He appreciated the efforts of the outgone CAC, particularly for the successes recorded in the fight against the insurgents and promised to improve on what his predecessor had achieved.
He paid tribute to the outstanding contributions and enduring impact of the outgone CAC, for shaping the NAAC. He further eulogized him for his wealth of experience and the leadership qualities he brought on board. He wished him well as he proceeds to take up his new appointment.
Earlier, in his farewell remarks, Major General Muhammed Ahmed thanked officers and soldiers of the Corps for the tremendous support and cooperation they accorded during his tenure.
He praised the NAAC for its exemplary professionalism, tireless dedication, and collaborative spirit, which, above all, contributed significantly to their victories over Boko Haram insurgents. He urged the officers and soldiers to extend similar cooperation and support to the new CAC to enable him succeed as he pilot the affairs of the NAAC.
The new and the outgone CAC also paid homage to the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rizwan Sulaiman Adamu CFR, where they solicited royal blessings. The Emir congratulated both of them for the successful handing and taking over as well as prayed for them to succeed in their future endeavours.
Major highlights of the events were the signing of handing and taking over notes, farewell address to the soldiers of the corps, as well as a farewell get-together at General Hassan Usman Katsina Officers Mess. Thereafter, there was also a handing and taking over parade at the Quarter Guard in line with the regimental requirements.
