Major General Oluremi Fadairo Takes Over As New GOC 82 Division Nigerian Army

82 Division Nigerian Army today marked a significant leadership transition as Major General Oluremi Fadairo officially assumed command as the new General Officer Commanding (GOC). The formal handover ceremony was held at the Division’s conference room where the former GOC, Major General Oluyemi Olatoye who has been redeployed to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) as Commandant pass the baton to his successor in a ceremony steeped in military tradition and camaraderie.

In his valedictory address, Major General Olatoye extended heartfelt gratitude to commanders, staff officers, soldiers, and their families for their unwavering support during his tenure. He attributed the Division’s accomplishments to their collective dedication and teamwork. Major General Olatoye also lauded his successor, Major General Fadairo, as a distinguished and highly professional senior officer, expressing confidence that the Division would scale new heights under his leadership.

In his remarks after assuming command, Major General Fadairo expressed his gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for the trust placed in him and the opportunity to command the Division. He further appreciated the enduring legacy of his predecessor and pledged to seek his counsel, whenever necessary. Addressing officers and soldiers, the new GOC called for sustained commitment and collaboration, reaffirming his dedication to fostering operational excellence and effective leadership.

The handing and taking over ceremony featured several symbolic moments, which included a farewell address by the outgoing GOC ,the signing of official handover documents, and the investiture of the new GOC with 82 Division insignia. Others include the ceremonial presentation of the command flag, the lowering of the outgoing GOC’s flag and the hoisting of the new command flag at the Quarter Guard.

Major General Fadairo’s assumption of command signals a renewed focus on advancing the Division’s mission, building on its history of service and professionalism.
