Mali records first case of the Ebola virus

Mali has recorded its first case of the dreaded Ebola Virus.

The country’s Health Ministry said a 2-year-old girl in Mali was diagnosed with Ebola, after recently returning from Guinea, making her the West African country’s first confirmed case.

Media reports say the girl’s mother died in Guinea a few weeks ago and the child was then brought by relatives to Mali. Guinea is one of the countries worst affected by the Ebola epidemic, which ironically started there late last year.
