The All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmanship and Councillorship primaries in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State were held peacefully and harmoniously at the council headquarters in Mallam Fatori on Sunday, 26 October 2025. The exercise attracted major political figures, party executives, and supporters under the APC platform who collectively ensured that the process was transparent, credible, and devoid of rancour.

The Borno State Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Professor Usman Tar, who hails from Abadam Local Government, congratulated the APC Chairmanship candidate and all councillorship aspirants for their maturity and orderly conduct.

He described the successful exercise as a model of grassroots democracy and a reflection of the people’s determination to strengthen participatory politics and peaceful coexistence in the area.

The event was attended by the current Executive Chairman of Abadam Local Government Council, Hon. Abubakar Aji Mustapha, alongside the local APC leadership and other stakeholders. The APC Chairman of Abadam Local Government also commended party members for their discipline, unity, and cooperation throughout the process.

Prof Tar expressed confidence that the outcome of the primaries would further consolidate the APC’s dominance and strengthen internal democracy at the local level.

The primaries were successfully conducted across all ten political wards of Abadam—Arege, Banowa, Fuguwa, Jabullam, Kudokurgu, Mallam Fatori/Kessa, Malam Kaunari, Yau, Yawa Kura, and Yituwa—with stakeholders ensuring inclusiveness and fairness in all proceedings. Party observers, youth representatives, and women mobilizers were also present to monitor and support the peaceful conduct of the exercise.

Situated approximately 197 kilometres from Maiduguri, the state capital, Abadam Local Government occupies a strategic position in the extreme northern part of Borno State, sharing borders with the Niger Republic. Despite its distance and the security challenges associated with its location, the smooth conduct of the APC primaries in Mallam Fatori symbolizes the resilience, political awareness, and commitment of the people of Abadam to democratic governance, unity, and sustainable peace in Borno State.
