Meek Mill’s Lawyer Challenges Solitary Confinement, Says Rapper May Go Crazy

Meek Mill’s lawyer has revealed that the rapper is in solitary confinement, 23 hours a day, 7 days a week, and he fears that the terse condition would affect the rapper’s psyche.

According to TMZ, the lawyer Joe Tacopina has filed the legal documents, arguing that Meek Mill is being severely punished because of his celebrity status, that he should be allowed to serve his time in the general prison area, with other inmates. However, the prison officials have said that the reason for the solitary confinement is to protect the rapper from the general population because they fear he would be harmed if allowed to mix with the crowd.

Counter arguing this, Meek’s lawyer says that the rapper insists he will do fine with the general population, that he has given back to his city since he became a celebrity and so doesn’t see any reason why anyone would want to harm him. He added that what is actually a threat to the rapper’s general well-being is solitary confinement. He added Meek Mill is writing and exercising a lot but under a condition which denies prisoners opportunity of contact with another human being almost all day and “insidiously destroys the psyche.”

For the first time, the rapper will be shopping for his supplies at the prison commissary this Friday and he will also be getting his first visitor sometime next week. However, his team are hoping that the courts will heed to their plight and save the rapper from suffering mental issues in the long run.

This sad development comes days after Meek Mill’s lawyer filed a petition for the judge, Genece Brinkley, to remove herself the rapper’s case on grounds that she sentenced him to 2-4 years in prison out of personal vendetta. Presently, the FBI is investigating the claims.

But will the court heed to the current plea? We can’t wait to see how this pans out.
