As part of its commitment towards enhancing community infrastructure and supporting sustainable development, the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has commissioned a state-of-the-art solar-powered borehole in the Fulatari Community of Monguno. The facility, with a 10-cubic-meter tank capacity, was officially commissioned by the Force Commander, Major General Godwin Mutkut, and handed over to the local community.

During the commissioning ceremony, Major General Mutkut highlighted the critical role of the European Union and its partners in bringing this project to fruition. He emphasized that access to clean water is vital for life and expressed hope that the new facility would significantly improve the quality of life for the residents of Fulatari. The Commander MNJTF Sector 3 Major General Mohammed Babayo, underscored the project’s importance in the broader context of peace and stabilization efforts in Monguno and Borno State. The initiative aligns with the MNJTF’s commitment to sustainable development and community empowerment, reflecting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. It aims to ensure universal access to clean water, improve public health, and enhance overall living conditions.

Mr Dennis Tavernier, representing Defence Council International (DCI), detailed the advanced features of the borehole, including solar panels for water treatment, micro filters, an automatic chrome dispenser, and a high-voltage pump, ensuring efficient and reliable water supply. He acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the MNJTF, DCI, and the European Union in supporting the return of communities affected by terrorism to their ancestral homes.

The Local Government Chairman of Monguno Alhaji Liman Kala expressed heartfelt gratitude to the MNJTF for their unwavering dedication to the community’s welfare.
