NAAC and NAAS Celebrate Promotion Of Six Senior Officers To Lieutenant Colonel As CAC Tasks Senior Officers On Discipline, Courage and Mistake-Free Decisions

The General Hassan Usman Katsina Officers’ Mess, Obienu Barracks, Bauchi, was filled to capacity on Tuesday, 14 April 2026, for the investiture ceremony of six officers from Headquarters Nigerian Army Armoured Corps (NAAC) and the Nigerian Army Armour School (NAAS) following their recent promotion to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

The Commander Armoured Corps, Major General Umar Abubakar and the Commandant NAAS, Major General Abubakar Ahmed, took a turn to decorate the senior officers with their new badges of rank. The newly promoted officers are Lieutenant Colonel JO Azubuike, Lieutenant Colonel CK Ori, Lieutenant Colonel AM Danfulani, Lieutenant Colonel A Yakubu, Lieutenant Colonel D Chang and Lieutenant Colonel HO Obire

In his remarks, Major General Abubakar expressed profound appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu for finding the officers and other officers of Armour Corps worthy of promotion to the next higher rank. He charged the beneficiaries to remain committed, dedicated and disciplined, urging them to distinguish themselves at all time and inspire their subordinates to give their best. He emphasized the need for the senior officers to give the Nigerian Army their utmost while displaying courage and exemplary leadership. The Commander concluded by wishing the officers success in their new ranks.

Other senior officers who addressed the promoted senior officers included Commandant NAAS, Major General AH Ahmed, Managing Director Nigerian Army Special Vehicles Plant, Brigadier General MU Lawal, Deputy Commandant NAAS, Brigadier General AM Haruna and Chief of Staff HQ NAAC Colonel HB Haruna. They reminded the senior officers that their promotion places them in key leadership positions where they must set the agenda, make sound executive decisions and ensure their actions are mistake-free. They stressed that the elevation should reinforce their determination to work harder.

Delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the beneficiaries, Lieutenant Colonel JO Azubuike thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu for finding them worthy of promotion. He also appreciated the Commander Armoured Corps for the privilege and pledged their unflinching loyalty and dedication to the constituted authority and the Nigerian Army. He extended their gratitude to the Commandant NAAS, Major General AH Ahmed, and other senior officers for their guidance and purposeful leadership.
