
NACOLM Host Conflict Management Seminar – Foster Inter-Agency Collaboration
The Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM) in collaboration with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) and Insight for Transformation and Development Initiative (ITDI) has organized a 2-days seminar on Conflict Management to build the capacity for members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) and other security agencies.
The Special Guest of Honour and Commandant NACOLM, Major General Adewale Collins Adetoba who declared the seminar open said it was aimed at enhancing participants’ understanding of conflict dynamics and fostering inter-agency cooperation.
The Special Guest of Honour was ably represented by the Acting Director Department of Military Leadership and Staff Studies, Colonel Oluranti Ogundiniyi. He added that seminar which was held from 28 – 29 October 2025 at the Ogomudia Auditorium, NACOLM Moloney Campus in Lagos was the 24th in its series.
Major General Adetoba disclosed that this year’s theme: “Building Synergy Through Effective Coordination of the Whole of Society for Enhanced National Security” reflected and projected the current actions all stakeholders need to take in tackling Nigeria’s security challenges. He expressed optimism that the deliberations by participants would break out key steps that could be adopted in achieving sustainable peace and security in the country.
The Commandant also disclosed that one of the aims of establishing NACOLM in 2002 was to train middle cadre officers of the Nigerian Army (NA) in the planning and management of logistics support for military operations at formation and joint levels, using modern management techniques.
While making his remarks, the Country Representative KAS Dr Tobias Ruettershoff expressed confidence in the training and approaches of members of the AFN is tackling insecurity in Nigeria. He added that the seminar will further exposed participants to other civil approaches, gender issues and non-kinetic means of dealing with conflicts. Ruettershoff said the foundation is delighted over the level of support and collaboration it has received from NACOLM over the years. Adding that KAS and NACOLM have maintained a mutually beneficial relationship that has lasted over a decade in the area of conflict management.
Also, Dr Rotimi Mathew who spoke on behalf of ITDI said the essence of the seminar was to foster collaboration amongst security agencies and build an all stakeholders approach in combating insecurity in Nigerian. He further harped on the importance of information sharing as one of the key takeaways of the 2-days seminar.
The event drew participants from members of the AFN, the Police, Department of State Services, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Customs Service and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. Participants were also drawn from the civil societies.
