NAF and OSC Collaborate On Seamless Transition For A-29 ST Aircraft

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, met with the newly appointed Chief of the Office of Security Cooperation (OSC), Embassy of the United States of America Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Ryan Howry, on 2 October 2024 at the Headquarters Nigerian Air Force (NAF). The primary focus of their discussions was the imperative to ensure continuity in the maintenance and operational sustainability of the A-29 Super Tucano (ST) aircraft. As the contract extension for the aircraft nears its conclusion this year, the CAS emphasized the critical importance of ensuring a seamless transition so that the A-29ST retains it’s relevance to NAF operational effectiveness.

Lt Col Howry reaffirmed the OSC’s commitment to providing full support, ensuring that the A-29 ST continues to play a vital role in the NAF’s missions. This collaboration aims to enhance and sustain the effectiveness and reliability of the aircraft in upcoming operations.

Also present at the meeting were Deputy Chief of OSC, US Embassy, Lt Col Daniel Purvis, as well as some Branch Chiefs and Directors from HQ NAF.
