NAOWA 8 Division Chapter Forges Partnership With Sokoto Ministry Of Women and Children Affairs

The Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) 8 Division Chapter Sokoto, has initiated a strategic collaboration with the Sokoto State Ministry of Women and Children Affairs. This partnership aims to amplify efforts in empowering women, protecting children and enhancing family well-being across the state.

During the visit, the Chairperson of NAOWA 8 Division Chapter, Mrs Chinelo Koughna, highlighted the Association’s commitment as a non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting government initiatives. She emphasized NAOWA’s focus on improving the lives of women and children, particularly within military barracks and host communities, through programmes centered on skills acquisition, health awareness, advocacy for girl-child education, and support for vulnerable families.

Mrs Koughna underscored the importance of collaboration, stating that Partnerships are vital in addressing the pressing challenges faced by women and children, including domestic violence, economic hardship and limited access to quality healthcare and education. She said by working together, they can achieve greater impact through joint initiatives, policy alignment, and resource sharing.

The NAOWA Chairperson reaffirmed NAOWA’s readiness to partner with the Ministry in organizing sensitization campaigns, vocational training programmes and outreach activities throughout Sokoto State. Mrs Koughna also expressed gratitude for the Commissioner’s leadership and dedication to the welfare of women and children.

In her response, the Honourable Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Hajiya Hadiza Ahmad Shagari, commended NAOWA for its consistent humanitarian efforts. She described the association as a key stakeholder in social development, particularly in communities hosting military formations.

Hajiya Shagari assured the delegation of the Ministry’s commitment to collaborating with NAOWA on programs aligned with the state government’s vision for inclusive growth and the protection of vulnerable groups. She stressed the importance of synergy between government institutions and non-governmental organizations in achieving sustainable development goals.

The visit concluded with the exchange of souvenirs and group photographs, marking the beginning of a promising partnership.
