NAOWA President Attends 14th National Security Seminar Organised By The Alumni Association Of The National Defence College

The President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Mrs. Mernan Femi Oluyede, was among several high-profile dignitaries who attended the 14th National Security Seminar organised by the Alumni Association of the National Defence College (AANDEC).

Mrs. Oluyede, who was ably represented at the seminar by Mrs. Motunrayo Akerejola, wife of the Chief of Logistics (Army), Major General E. Akerejola, joined other key stakeholders to deliberate on pressing national issues bordering on security and sustainable development. The seminar, held in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and the National Defence College (NDC), took place on Monday, 23 June 2025, at the Main Auditorium of the National Defence College, Abuja.

With the theme, “Combating Hunger and Poverty for Sustainable Peace and Development in Nigeria,” the seminar served as a platform for dialogue on the root causes of insecurity and the strategic role of inclusive development in strengthening national stability. It highlighted the interconnectedness of security, food sufficiency, and economic empowerment in achieving lasting peace.

The event was graced by the Special Guest of Honour (SGOH), Her Excellency, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who was represented by the Honourable Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar. Also in attendance were representatives of the Chief of Defence Staff and the Service Chiefs, President DEPOWA, Mrs. Oghogho G Musa, Coordinator of NDCOWA, Mrs. Rhoda Olotu, President NAFOWA, and Architect Mrs. Rakiya Abubakar, amongst other esteemed dignitaries.

Highlights of the seminar included goodwill messages, a keynote address delivered on behalf of the SGOH, a series of expert-led presentations, and a group photograph session.
