NAOWA President Commissions 6 Blocks Of Classrooms For NAOWA Nursery/Primary School, New Secretariat Complex For NAOWA 8 Division Sokoto
The National President of Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Mrs Salamatu Faruk Yahaya, has, Commissioned six blocks of classrooms staff office for NAOWA Nursery Primary school Giginya barracks Sokoto. In addition to that, she Commissioned the newly constructed NAOWA secretariat complex for 8 Division Chapters.
The NAOWA President initiated the six blocks of classrooms for the NAOWA Nursery and Primary School. She performed the foundation stone laying on 30 August 2021, during her maiden visit to the Division. The project was completed and fully furnished with teaching materials, tables, chairs, computers and office facilities for the teachers’ staff rooms. At the same time, the new NAOWA secretariat complex was initiated and completed by the Chairperson NAOWA 8 Division chapter Mrs Glory Bassey. The secretariat was named after the NAOWA president as “Mrs Salamatu F Yahaya Secretariat”. It was also fully furnished with office facilities.
In her speech, Mrs Salamatu Faruk Yahaya Said the two projects commissioned affirm her commitment to sustain the legacies and uphold the tenet of unity and service. She stated that, since the assumption of office, she focused on the standardisation of strengthening NAOWA institutions and other assets and capacity development of NAOWA and the Nigerian Army Soldiers Wives Association (NASWA).
The NAOWA President commended the Chairperson NAOWA 8 Division Chapter, Mrs Glory Bassey, for keying into her infrastructural development for initiating and completing a new secretariat complex for the 8 Division chapter. She added that this initiative would create an enabling environment for meetings, coordination of NAOWA activities as well as muster points for NAOWA members. She urges her to continue the excellent gesture being one of the cardinal objectives of NAOWA’s contribution to society.
Mrs Yahaya further stated that the furnishing of the six blocks of classrooms was to provide a conducive learning environment for the children and promote self-reliance and give confidence to the children.
As part of her humanitarian activities, she donates food items and cash to the teachers of the NAOWA Nursery and Primary school, teaching materials and school bags to the children.
In addition, she visited 8 Division Medical Services and Hospital, where she presented relief materials to patients and provided cash donations. She also donates medical equipment to the hospital. These equipment are; 2 Incubators, 2 Oxygen Concentrators, patients Monitor (Mindry Umec 10), Trolley for patients monitor, resuscitaire and Phototherapy light. She said all this equipments were meant to assist the hospital in addressing health challenges within the barracks.
In her welcome remarks, the Chairperson NAOWA 8 Chapter Mrs Glory Bassey said , the Division Chapter has maintained a robust service delivery posture to humanity with a view to keying into the vision of the National President which is “sustaining the legacies and upholding the tenets of unity and service”. She added, that the initiative to build a new NAOWA secretariat has become necessary being that since the establishment of the Division in 2018 NAOWA has no office to operate and that has affected the smooth conduct of thier activities. That is why she initiated the projects and full executed with the support of the General Officer Commanding 8 Division Major General UU Bassey, she stated. She further added that, NAOWA 8 Division will continue to partner with the president to improve the life of officers’ and soldiers families.
In his goodwill message, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division and Commander Joint Task Force Northwest Operation HADARIN DAJI Major General Uwem Bassey applaud NAOWA president for giving more attention to 8 Division in her infrastructural development. He said the Division has remained grateful to her and he will continue to support NAOWA where necessary.
Relatedly, the Commsioner for Women and Children Affairs Sokoto State, Hajiya Kulu Abdullahi Sifawa, call for more education attention to the barracks children. She urges NAOWA president to replicate same gesture to all Nigerian Army Formations. She encourage the teachers of the Nursery and Primary School to maintain the structure and equipments installed in the classroom.
Highlight of the events were, unveiling of The plaque and cutting of tape for the commissioning of NAOWA Nursery/ primary school and the new NAOWA secretariat, presentation of souvenirs and plaque to dignitaries, presentation of certificates to NAOWA members who distinguish themselves, and guided tour of the newly commissioned projects.
