NAOWA President Commissions Newly Constructed NAOWA Primary School In 3 Brigade Bukavu Barrack

The President Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association, Mrs Safiyyah Hassan Shaibu, commissioned the newly built NAOWA Primary School Bukavu Barracks, Kano on December 31, 2025. The project was sponsored by Chairman and CEO of AA Rano Nigeria Limited, Alhaji Auwalu Abdullahi Rano, and Executive Director of Tabarakallahu Layout, Alhaji Bashir Tabarakallahu.

The school, constructed with modern learning facilities, was commissioned as part of efforts to support education and the welfare of military families. At the unveiling ceremony, Major General KI Mukhtar (Rtd), the Special Guest Honour and one time General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army, praised the project as a shining example of the Army’s commitment to supporting its personnel’s families. He described the school as “a symbol of selfless service to humanity” and “a gift to future generations”, adding that the philanthropists’ contribution will “transform lives” and “shape leaders”.

The Specail Guest of Honour also commended NAOWA and Headquarters 3 Brigade for maintaining good relations with its host community and encouraged parents and the community to get involved and support the school.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the representative of President NAOWA, the Zonal Coordinator of NAOWA, 3 Brigade Chapter, Mrs. Zainab Tukur, said the school underscored NAOWA’s commitment to the welfare and education of children of Barracks and host communities. She urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the facility and called on stakeholders to ensure its proper maintenance to guarantee sustainability. “To philanthropists, your generosity will impact generations. Your names will be etched in the hearts of parents, teachers, and students. May Allah reward you abundantly”. She appreciated the President Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association, Mrs Safiyyah Hassan Shaibu, for providing visionary leadership and guidance that continues to shape the activities of NAOWA chapters. She also thanked the NAOWA Chairperson 1 Division, Dr Halima Wase for her continuous support as well as all her predecessors for their tireless efforts in making this dream of establishing a NAOWA Primary School come true.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Commander of 3 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ahmad Tukur, described the newly constructed NAOWA Primary School as a significant contribution to human capital development and a reflection of community support for the Nigerian Army. Brigadier General Tukur commended the philanthropists for the gesture, noting that the facility would provide a conducive environment for learning and personal development of pupils.

The project executors, Alhaji Auwalu Rano represented by the Executive Director AA Rano Nigeria Limited Alhaji Salisu Ibrahim Balarebe and Alhaji Bashir Tabarakallahu, expressed delight at being part of the initiative, saying the school would bring positive change to the Barracks community and contribute to the future of children.

Highlights of the Ceremony were guided tours of the facilities, display by pupils of NAOWA School, group photographs and presentation of Souvenir.
