NAPTIP DG Advocates Strengthened Partnership with Kaduna Ministry to Bolster Anti-Trafficking Efforts
The Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and her team recently paid a courtesy visit to the Kaduna State Ministry of Human Services and Social Development. The visit aimed to strengthen the existing relationship between the Ministry and NAPTIP to enhance collaborative efforts in combating human trafficking.
Hajia Rabi Salisu, the Honourable Commissioner, warmly received the DG and her team. She acknowledged NAPTIP as a vital government agency and valued partner, emphasizing the agency’s pivotal role in referring cases to the Ministry and supporting survivors of trafficking.
To foster closer collaboration, the Commissioner encouraged the DG to formally seek the Governor’s support for suitable office accommodation and inclusion in the state security council committee. These steps, she noted, would facilitate the rapid response team’s operations. She also highlighted that budget provisions had been made for repatriation, protection, and support services and expressed readiness for further partnerships on critical issues.
In her response, the DG expressed profound gratitude for the Commissioner’s unwavering support and assured her that the agency would promptly forward the requested applications. The Honourable Commissioner, in a goodwill gesture, pledged monthly support of ₦100,000 for the NAPTIP Kaduna office. However, she emphasized the need for the agency to enhance its monthly reporting system, enabling the Ministry to track NAPTIP’s activities more effectively and strengthen synergy at all operational levels.
The meeting underscored the commitment of both organizations to eradicating human trafficking and providing comprehensive support for survivors.
