NASENI: Making Nigeria a Hub for Electric Mobility in Africa

In Jos, Plateau State, NASENI took the Made-in-Nigeria conversation to the next level by showcasing one of its groundbreaking innovations—the NASENI Locally Assembled Electric Vehicle—at the NASENI Made-in-Nigeria Strategic Focus Group Meeting.

These electric vehicles (EVs)—including sedans, buses, and pickup trucks—are fully assembled in Nigeria, demonstrating the country’s capability to domesticate advanced technologies.

To achieve this, NASENI has partnered with Chinese companies to source essential vehicle components. However, the agency is committed to reducing dependence on imported parts, particularly batteries, in the shortest possible time. A dedicated team has already been assembled to drive this transition.

NASENI has also secured long-term technology transfer agreements with its partners, ensuring sustained local capacity development.

Currently, these vehicles are hybrid models, running on both fuel and batteries, but NASENI is working towards producing fully electric vehicles with an expanded network of charging stations across the country.
