Naval Base Abuja Conducts Junior Officers’ Development Course

Naval Base Abuja successfully conducted the Junior Officers’ Development Course 1/2025 from 7 – 11 July 2025. The course was designed to build upon the foundational knowledge acquired during initial officer training and to formally induct newly appointed officers into the Base. A total of 10 officers participated in the training, which featured a combination of lectures, video presentations, and practical sessions.

Key topics covered during the course included leadership, man management, financial management, and ethics. Additionally, participants were trained in foot drill and sword drill. The course was delivered by experienced instructors from Naval Base Abuja and the Guards Brigade of the Nigerian Army.

Speaking at the closing ceremony on Friday, 11 July 2025, the Commander Naval Base Abuja, Commodore OE Oladipo, charged the officers to regard their Presidential Commission as a strategic mandate to serve the nation with honour and integrity. He emphasised that the complex and evolving security landscape in Nigeria demands capable and visionary leadership at all levels. He therefore urged the officers to equip themselves with the requisite skills and to remain aligned with the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla’s Vision and Strategic Guidance in the discharge of their duties.
