
Naval Base Lake Chad Conducts Medical Rhapsody In Borno State
On Tuesday, 9 December 2025, Naval Base Lake Chad (NBLC), led by the Commander, Commodore Peter Gambo Yilme, conducted a Medical Rhapsody at the Primary Health Care Centre in Baga, Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State. The medical outreach was carried out in line with the Chief of the Naval Staff’s strategy on health awareness and civil–military cooperation. The Medical Rhapsody featured a range of services provided to members of the Baga community, including free medical consultations, blood pressure checks, HIV screening, malaria tests, blood sugar assessments, dental care, and the distribution of free medications, among others.
In his remarks, the Commander NBLC, who was represented by the Executive Officer, Captain Adeyemi Festus Adewuyi, highlighted that the exercise was not merely a medical intervention but a strategic effort aimed at strengthening trust and fostering resilience within the Baga community. He emphasised that enhancing access to healthcare remains a vital component of the Base’s holistic approach to restoring sustainable peace and security in Baga and its surrounding settlements. Captain Adewuyi added that by addressing both the medical and social needs of the people, the Nigerian Navy (NN) continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to community empowerment, human security and the overall well-being of residents in the region.
In attendance was the District Head of Baga, Alhaji Muhammad Arjinoma Zanna, who expressed his gratitude to the NBLC in particular and the NN in general for the consistent social interventions extended to the community.
