Naval Doctrine Command Holds First Commanding Officers Workshop At Naval Training Command

From 15 – 16 August 2024, the Naval Doctrine Command (NAVDOC) organised a 2 day workshop for the Commanding Officers of ships in Eastern and Central Fleet at the Headquarters Naval Training Command Ebubu-Eleme, Rivers State. The theme of the workshop was “Leadership and Operational Excellence: Empowering Commanding Officers of ships for Effective Command”

The workshop presented a platform for dialogue, knowledge sharing and collaborative problem solving with respect to challenges faced by Commanding Officers in the conduct of maritime security operations.

The Special Guest of Honour for the opening ceremony, Flag Officer Commanding Central Naval Command, Rear Admiral Samson Burra was represented by Admiral Superintendent Naval Shipyard, Rear Admiral FN Damtong. Present at the opening ceremony were the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Doctrine Command, Rear Admiral HD Zakaria and the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Training Command, Rear Admiral IM Albara. Others were the Director Training Naval Headquarters, Rear Admiral JN Mamman, the Command Admin Officer, Rear Admiral KM Bushi, the Chief Staff Officer, NAVTRAC Rear Admiral AO Ayo-Vaughan and the Fleet Commander Eastern fleet Rear Admiral MA Muye, FC Central Fleet.

The COs’ Workshop promises to become a veritable pedestal to improve the operational capabilities of COs’ towards achieving the CNS vision of “a highly professional and motivated naval capable of shaping security outcomes in Nigeria’s maritime environment”
