Naval Headquarters Decorates Newly Promoted Officers

On Friday, 15 August 2025, seven newly promoted officers of the Nigerian Navy were decorated with their new ranks at Naval Headquarters, Abuja. The event, known in naval parlance as the “Shipping of Stripes”, marked a significant milestone in their careers, recognising their exceptional dedication to the service of the Nigerian Navy (NN) and the nation.

The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, commended the Officers for their professionalism and commitment, congratulating both them and their spouses on the well-deserved promotion. Speaking further, the CNS emphasised that the promotions were not only a personal achievement for the officers but also a testament to the support of their families, whose efforts in maintaining the home front enable the officers to focus on their duties.

Addressing the newly promoted officers, the CNS said: “You must now rise to the expectation of leadership, professionalism, and excellence. This is not just a new rank—it is a call to greater responsibility as Lieutenant Commanders in the NN. You must put in your best effort to combat insecurity and maritime crimes.”

The seven officers promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander, and decorated in the presence of their families, Branch Chiefs, Directors, senior officers, and well-wishers, were:

a. Lieutenant Ugo Chukwu

b. Lieutenant David Fagorusi

c. Lieutenant Bello Muhammad

d. Lieutenant Abubakar Sani

e. Lieutenant Elizabeth Aina-Kehinde

f. Lieutenant Gideon Danjuma

g. Lieutenant Stella Ikuesan-Daniel
