Naval Unit Abuja Hosts NASA For Personnel and Families

Naval Unit Abuja hosted the 2024 Navy Socio-Cultural Activities (NASA) on Saturday, 22 February 2025. The event, held at the Naval Unit Parade Ground brought together officers, soldiers, their families, and a diverse group of distinguished guests, including government officials, retired senior military officers, and representatives of security and paramilitary agencies.

The event commenced with the Welcome Address by the Chief Host, the Commander, Naval Unit, Commodore Oluseyi Oladipo and thereafter a goodwill message by the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike who was ably represented by Mr Olubiyi Sunday.

The Special Guest of Honour, The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, represented by the Director of Administration, Naval Headquarters, Rear Admiral BK Effiong, in his remarks stated that the importance of such event is to foster camaraderie among military personnel and celebrating Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and national security through socio-cultural harmony. He also commended the Chief Host and the organising committee for a successful event.

The event featured a line up of activities, including cultural displays, tug-of-war competition and award presentations. The evening concluded with Sunset which is the lowering of flags, symbolising the official end of the year’s activities, and the lighting of a bonfire to reinforce camaraderie among soldiers and other security personnel.
