New EFCC Head Charges Staff Against Indiscipline, Corruption
The new head of the South East, Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday January 16, 2020, resumed duty in Enugu, charging staff to be discipline and ready to fight corruption.
Mr. Ibrahim Bappah, who until now was a course officer for the Commission in Nigerian Defence Academy, Ribadu Cantonment, Kaduna, is an Assistant Commissioner of Police from Gombi, in Adamawa State, replaced Usman Imam, who was deployed to head the Port Harcourt zonal office.
Bappah is a graduate of Sociology and Anthropology from University of Maiduguri and has held several positions in the Commission, including the course officer for the very first batch of Cadet Trainees in EFCC at the Police College, Ikeja.
He was a team leader at the Advance Fee Fraud Section in Lagos and had at various times served as zonal head of the Commission in Gombe, Maiduguri and Kaduna State, respectively.
The new zonal head has numerous professional and academic certificates to his credit, which include; Masters in Leadership Studies from NDA, Kaduna, Post Graduate Certificate in Anti-Corruption from University of Hong Kong and others covering mentorship, security and law enforcement, leadership and administrations.
While addressing the Enugu State zone staff, Bappah solicited for everyone’s support saying that the fight against corruption needed concerted efforts to be effective.
“I want your cooperation so that we can move this Commission and Nigeria forward, I will not tolerate laziness, gossip and corruption and I will not be a party to any negative attitude”, he stated.
He stressed on the need for staff to see one another as brothers and sisters irrespective of tribe or religion, adding that much could be achieved in an environment of such conviviality.
Bappah stated further: “I look at you as my sons and daughters, and I want you to see corruption as a serious problem that only one person cannot defeat, so, I want all of you to identify yourselves as those who are ready to move EFCC forward”.
