Nigerian Air Force Advances Education and Community Development With Internet Facility and Support Projects In Offa
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reinforced its commitment to national development and strengthened civil-military cooperation with the commissioning of a modern Internet Service Facility at the Federal Polytechnic Offa (FEDPOFFA), Kwara State. Executed under the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Special Intervention Project (SIP) in honour of recently retired Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Olasunkanmi Abidoye, the initiative is designed to enhance digital learning, research, and administrative efficiency across the institution. The milestone aligns with NAF’s broader effort to deliver impactful, community-focused interventions that promote mutual trust, national cohesion, and long-term societal development.
Facilitator of the project, AVM Abidoye, expressed deep satisfaction at contributing to the progress of his hometown, stating, “It is a privilege and honour to come back home and give back to the community. This is just the beginning of several developmental initiatives we intend to undertake for the Polytechnic and the Offa community.” Also speaking at the event, the Special Guest of Honour, AVM Lanre Oluwatoyin, commended the initiative as a forward-looking investment that advances digital education and strengthens institutional efficiency. He emphasized that the CAS SIP was established to “reinforce civil-military relations, promote mutual trust, and ensure that communities feel the tangible impact of the Armed Forces in peace time,” adding that such interventions enhance national security by building goodwill and reducing vulnerabilities that can be exploited by criminal elements.
The Rector, Engr Dr Kadiri, appreciated the NAF for the thoughtful intervention, affirming that the facility would bolster FEDPOFFA’s broadband capability and enrich teaching, learning, research, and administrative processes. He assured that the project would be responsibly utilized in line with the Polytechnic’s commitment to technology-driven education and industry-ready training. The event was graced by senior NAF officers, including Air Commodore Ibrahim Musa, Commander 303 Composite Group Ilorin, and Group Captain ON Oni, who joined other dignitaries in witnessing the occasion. Beyond the internet facility, NAF also executed additional SIPs in Offa, including the distribution of WAEC and JAMB registration support materials to 100 students, installation of a 5,000-litre solar-powered borehole in a water-scarce area, and empowerment of 10 fashion design trainees with sewing machines. These inclusive interventions, targeted at underprivileged groups, reinforce NAF’s dedication to national development, social stability, and sustainable community support. Beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude and pledged to maintain the facilities provided.
