Nigerian Air Force Advances “Welfare For Enhanced Warfare” Through End-Of-Year Personnel Engagements

In furtherance of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, command philosophy of prioritising personnel welfare and well-being as a force multiplier for operational effectiveness, the Nigerian Air Force sustained a series of deliberate end-of-year personnel engagements across formations and operational units. Anchored on the “Welfare for Enhanced Warfare” policy thrust, the engagements were designed to recognise the sacrifices of officers, airmen, airwomen, and their families, while reinforcing morale, cohesion, and fighting spirit critical to mission success.

As part of the engagements, personnel of the NAF Special Operations Command participated in structured end-of-year activities across its Headquarters and units, including officers’ Seat-Outs, end-of-year gatherings for officers, airmen/airwomen and civilian staff, as well as a Children’s Christmas Party. Leadership engagement was further reinforced by the Air Officer Commanding, Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Idris, whose interactions underscored mentorship, inclusivity, and command presence. Within this framework, similar welfare-focused engagements were conducted at the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 2, including at 213 Forward Operating Base, where personnel reflected on sustained air operations, strengthened teamwork, and renewed commitment to professionalism and operational excellence in a high-tempo environment. Also, 261 Nigerian Air Force Reference Hospital hosted an award ceremony to recognise deserving personnel, decorate newly promoted Senior Non Commissioned Officers, and bid farewell to two Master Warrant Officers after 35 years of meritorious service.

A major highlight of the programme was the Children’s Christmas Party held at NAF Base Bauchi, which featured games, music, dance, and prize presentations, creating a festive atmosphere for families and reinforcing the Service’s commitment to the welfare of personnel and their dependants. Overall, the end-of-year engagements were deliberately structured to boost morale, strengthen esprit de corps, promote family bonding, and provide well-deserved respite after a year of sustained operational engagements. Through these initiatives, the Nigerian Air Force continues to translate the CAS’ vision into practical action, reaffirming that a motivated, well-cared-for force remains central to sustained operational effectiveness and national security.
