Nigerian Air Force, BUA Group Deepen Strategic Partnership To Advance National Security and Development

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reaffirmed its commitment to constructive public–private sector collaboration as the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, DFS, received representatives of BUA Group on a courtesy visit to NAF Headquarters on 17 December 2025. Welcoming the delegation, the CAS described the engagement as symbolic of the growing importance of partnerships between the Armed Forces and indigenous conglomerates in advancing national objectives. The visit was particularly significant as it underscored the enduring excellence, discipline and leadership values instilled by the NAF, reflected in the accomplishments of its former Junior Airmen, notably the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of BUA Group, Dr Ubon Udoh, an alumnus of the Air Force Military School, Jos, whose presence highlighted the Service’s lasting impact on national leadership and enterprise.

Air Marshal Aneke acknowledged the significant contributions of BUA Group to Nigeria’s industrial growth, infrastructure development, energy sector and job creation, stressing that sustainable economic development remains a critical enabler of lasting peace and security. “The Nigerian Air Force recognises that national security and national development are mutually reinforcing,” the CAS stated, adding that his Command Philosophy prioritises building “a highly motivated, professional and mission-ready Air Force capable of delivering decisive airpower in support of national security objectives.” He emphasised that the Service remains open to mutually beneficial partnerships that support innovation, infrastructure development, energy sustainability, logistics support and corporate social responsibility initiatives aligned with NAF operational and welfare priorities.

Responding on behalf of the delegation, Dr Ubon Udoh expressed appreciation for the warm reception, describing the visit as a proud homecoming. “The values of discipline, integrity and excellence instilled during my formative years as a Junior Airman have remained the foundation of my leadership journey,” he said, affirming BUA Group’s commitment to supporting initiatives that align with national security and development goals. The CAS further assured the delegation of the NAF’s professionalism, transparency and accountability in safeguarding national assets and investments, expressing optimism that the engagement would translate into practical areas of collaboration, particularly in infrastructure support, capacity development and alternative energy solutions, for the collective benefit of Nigeria.
