Nigerian Air Force Will Sustain Efforts At Ensuring Peace, Security In The Country – Chief Of Air Staff
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has disclosed that, in line with its statutory responsibilities, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) will sustain its efforts at ensuring peace, security and wellbeing of Nigeria and Nigerians.
These, he said, would continue to be achieved through the effective employment of air power and deployment of ground troops for Internal Security Operations across the Country. Speaking through the Chief of Policy and Plans, Headquarters NAF, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Emmanuel Anebi, the CAS revealed that the NAF had been able to effectively perform its roles due to the continued support of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari, through the provision of new aircraft and equipment as well as the necessary resources to sustain its operations.
He averred that the recently acquired platforms had greatly enhanced NAF’s operational effectiveness and efficiency in the fight against insurgency in the North East and armed banditry in the North West. He noted that the NAF would continue to build needed capacity whilst developing strategies to anticipate and curb emerging security threats across the Country.
Air Marshal Abubakar expressed these thoughts while commissioning some projects at the Military Training Centre (MTC) and Regiment Training Centre (RTC), NAF Base Kaduna, 10 April 2019.
The projects commissioned comprised 2 blocks of 10 x single-room student’s accommodation at RTC as well as renovated classrooms and office block at Air Provost School and 3 blocks of 10 x single-room accommodation at the Cadets’ Quarters, MTC. In his words, “We are committed to providing enabling and conducive environment for learning, undertaking laudable projects that would revitalize the professional competence of personnel for higher quality output to the Service”.
The CAS said the NAF would continue to improve the welfare of personnel whilst sustaining training activities, both within and outside the country, as well as providing basic infrastructural facilities for enhanced service delivery. He therefore urged personnel to appreciate the huge investments and rededicate themselves towards giving back to the Nigerians nothing but their optimum performance.
While delivering his welcome address, the Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command, AVM Idi Amin, thanked the CAS for providing decent office and residential accommodation for the 2 Centres and urged personnel of the Command to reciprocate the Federal Government’s commitments to providing decent accommodation to personnel by continually striving to make the Service more effective in addressing current and emerging security challenges in the Country. The ceremony was attended by senior NAF officers in Kaduna.
