Nigerian Air Force Wins 2025 NUJ FCT Football Tournament, Showcases Excellence and Unity

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has once again demonstrated excellence and unity by emerging champions of the 2025 NUJ FCT Football Tournament, which commenced on 18 August 2025. The knockout tournament, designed for personnel aged 35 years and above, saw the NAF team secure the prestigious title after defeating strong contenders. This remarkable feat reflects the approval and support of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, whose philosophy emphasizes the promotion of civil-military relations, peace, and national unity.

In preparation for the tournament, a contingent of 45 personnel was assembled and trained. From this pool, 35 officers, airmen, and officials were carefully selected to represent the NAF in the competition. Their outstanding performance and sportsmanship not only brought pride to the Service but also showcased the strength of discipline, teamwork, and resilience instilled through deliberate training and mission-oriented force development under the CAS’s guidance.

This victory marks the second major sports achievement for the NAF in August, coming on the heels of the NAF Handball Team’s triumph at the Nigeria Handball Division One League, which secured promotion to the premier league. These back-to-back successes highlight the CAS’s commitment to sustaining morale, fitness, and excellence in sports through consistent financial and moral support. By fostering sporting culture and civil-military engagement, the NAF continues to strengthen bonds with the public while projecting its values of professionalism, unity, and service to the nation.
