Nigerian Army Commander Resuscitates Moribound Borehole For Host Community
In a commendable act of community support, the Commander 12 Brigade Nigerian Army Lokoja, Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi has re-fixed a previously non-functional borehole in the Lokongoma community, where the Commanders’ Guest House is located. The borehole, which had been out of service for some time, was a vital source of water for residents in the area.
The Commander understanding the hardship faced by the community due to the lack of clean water, directed the swift repair and restoration of the facility. The resuscitated borehole was officially handed over to the community on 14 April 2025, with the Commander ably represented by the Cantonment Maintenance Officer, Major Nathaniel Yakubu.
The intervention has since brought much-needed relief to the residents, who now enjoy renewed access to a steady and safe water supply.
The community leader, Chief Okpanachi Nicholas, expressed deep appreciation for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful. He noted that the initiative would go a long way to ease the daily burden of the people and foster stronger ties between the military and the host community.
