
Nigerian Army Concludes Key Stakeholders Engagement Forum In Asaba
The Nigerian Army has concluded the second edition of Key Stakeholders Engagement Forum themed “Bringing the Nigerian Army Closer to Communities.” The all important programme was organized by Army Headquarters Department of Civil-Military Affairs and held at the Mariam Babangida Leisure Park, Asaba, Delta State on Thursday 24 April 2025.
Speaking at the occasion the Special Guest of Honor (SGoH) Commander Corps of Engineers Major General Tonye Numbere stated that the forum is a continuity of collective efforts towards achieving national security objectives and by extension nation building with a significant innovation in promoting collaboration, building trust, and strengthening mutual understanding among critical stakeholders for a prosperous Nigeria.
In his words, the SGoH further stated, “In today’s interconnected world, security is a responsibility that goes beyond the scope of the military and law enforcement agencies alone. The complexities of our current security challenges calls for the collective effort of community leaders, policymakers, civil society organizations, and every concerned citizen. I dare say that the successes recorded by the Nigerian Army in tackling crude oil theft, and other forms of criminalities in the Niger Delta stems from the steadfast cooperation of stakeholders like you”
He reiterated that the Nigerian Army’s willingness to engage, listen, and respond to the needs of the people, which underscores its commitment to a community-focused approach in safeguarding the nation. “As we come together today, let us remember that achieving the peace and security we desire depends on unity and collective action” he added.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chief of Civil Military Affairs Major General Gold Chibuisi said the Nigerian Army Key Stakeholders’ Engagement Forum serves as a veritable platform for fostering dialogue and trust between the Nigerian Army and stakeholders at all levels of the society. He noted that the theme, “Bringing the Nigerian Army Closer to Communities” embodies the Nigerian Army’s desire to strengthen partnerships with relevant stakeholders in overcoming the nation’s security challenges while advancing sustainable development.
“Our contemporary security challenges are both dynamic and multifaceted, requiring a collective effort, therefore, this forum underscores the significance of a military-civilian collaboration in addressing the root causes of insecurity and laying the foundation for a thriving and harmonious society” he said
The seminar was graced by Royal fathers, Clergymen, community leaders, district heads, youth leaders, Uber drivers association, market women, traders, farmers, representative of the Nigerian Union of Journalists President Delta State chapter, security agencies, persons with disabilities among others.
