Nigerian Army, EFCC to Partner Against Graft
The commander, 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Benin City, Brigadier General I. Garba has pledged to support the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in the fight against corruption, economic and financial crimes.
The Brigadier General stated this today, March 7, 2018 when officers of the Commission, Benin Zonal Office paid a courtesy visit to his office. According to him, the work of the Commission is of utmost importance as corruption remains the bane of our development.
Hear him, “Your work is not easy. 4 Brigade is ready to work with you. The country must move forward as corruption remains a big problem.”
He charged EFCC officers not to be deterred despite the risk they face in discharging their duties.
“The Commission sometime faces some resistance from people during arrest just because the corrupt people see the EFCC as enemies but all Nigerians must see the EFCC as vital and contribute their quota”. The army, he said was ready to assist the Commission in whichever way it can.
Earlier, Mailafia Yakubu, EFCC Zonal Head Benin who led the team commended the Nigeria Army for their support in the past and solicited for their support as the EFCC alone cannot exterminate corruption.
“We have commerced operations in Benin, the Benin office covers Edo, Delta and Ondo states. We are here to seek for your support and collaboration”.
