Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Honours 17 Generals As They Bid Farewell To The Service

In a grand ceremony, Friday 23 August 2024, Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (NAEME) celebrated the illustrious careers of 17 retired Generals, honoring their selfless service to NAEME, Nigeria Army and the nation. The pulling out parade took place at the 65 Battalion parade ground, Bonny Cantonment, Lagos State.

A former Corps Commander of NAEME and Director General, Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria, Major General Moses Uzoh (Rtd) who was the Special Guest of Honour and also one of the retired senior officer been pulled out, in his valedictory address highlighted the importance of endurance, determination, and prayers in achieving success. He expressed gratitude for the opportunities to serve and contribute to the growth and development of EME and the Nigerian Army.

He stressed that; the EME has remained an elite Corps in the NA; he reiterated that – the place of the Corps in the history and development of the NA in terms of logistics Support. He implored the Corps to always be ahead through proactive application of science and technology to help the NA achieve its dynamic responsibilities.

Gen Uzoh expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja for his unwavering support to the Corps especially his commitment to the face lift of the Corps and his dedication to reviving their past glory through strategic interventions in infrastructural development. He also expressed his sincere appreciation to the Commander EME; Major General Baba Umaru Yahaya for organizing the pulling out parade. He further commended the commitment and determined EME personnel and past Corps Commanders for putting the Corps in its rightful position.

While, in a welcome address the Chief host, Commander Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Major General Baba Yahaya said the Corps has made significant progress since the retired generals left service with utmost respect to the retired Generals, notably, was the massive training support at the Corps school in Auchi by the COAS especially in the area of infrastructure, he said that the school now has a befitting auditorium and mechatronics workshop amongst other development.

Major General Yahaya also expressed his profound gratitude to all the celebrants for making time to honor the invitation and also thanked all the Corps Commanders present at the occasion, ,the General Officer Commanding 81 Division NA, Flag Officer Officer Commanding West, the Air Commanding Officer Logistics Command, Senior military officers both serving and retired and other sister security agencies, civilians and family who graced the occasion.
