Nigerian Army Hits Terrorists Hard, Rescue Victims and Sizes Arms In Nationwide Onslaught

In a string of coordinated operations across the country, troops of the Nigerian Army have continued to record remarkable operational gains, neutralizing terrorists, rescuing kidnapped victims, arresting criminal collaborators and recovering an array of weapons and logistics items between 26 and 28 September 2025.

Within the period under review, troops neutralized several terrorists, rescued five kidnap victims, arrested 19 suspects, recovered seven AK-47 rifles, one berretta pistol, two fabricated rifles, assorted ammunition and dismantled multiple illegal refining sites loaded with over 4,000 litres of stolen crude oil.

In the North East, troops of 195 and 222 Battalions in Borno State conducted offensive operations in Mafa and Konduga Local Government Areas, neutralizing 9 terrorists and capturing four AK-47 rifles, magazines, ammunition and drugs. Similarly, troops of 232 Battalion in Adamawa State, acting on credible intelligence, arrested a suspected ISWAP/JAS terrorist and recovered an AK-47 rifle with 19 rounds of ammunition during separate engagements. Two family members of ISWAP terrorists also surrendered to troops in Bama.

In the North West, troops of 8 Division and 17 Brigade intensified operations in Zamfara, Sokoto and Katsina States. Troops arrested three suspected terrorist logistics suppliers in Shinkafi and Kankara, recovering cash, motorcycles, drugs and other materials meant for insurgents. In Sabon Birni LGA of Sokoto State, troops engaged fleeing terrorists and seized one AK-47 rifle, two magazines and 51 rounds of ammunition.

In another development, troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE in Benue State rescued two abducted Nigerian Immigration personnel and arrested criminal elements in Katsina-Ala, recovering one berretta pistol, assorted ammunition and 29 mobile phones.

In the North Central region, particularly Kogi State, troops of 12 Brigade, in collaboration with the Nigerian Police and local vigilantes, engaged kidnappers in Okene, Kabba Bunu and Omalla LGAs, rescuing four victims and neutralizing one armed herder. Troops also recovered two AK-47 rifles, magazines and ammunition.

In the Federal Capital Territory, troops of 102 Guards Battalion arrested five suspected kidnappers in Dei-Dei area of Bwari, who attempted to disguise as police officers. Items recovered include two fabricated AK-47 rifles, cartridges, radios, mobile phones and several identity cards.

In the South-South region, troops of 16 Brigade and Headquarters Sector 3 under Operation DELTA SAFE discovered and dismantled multiple illegal refining sites at JK4, Edegberr and Abiama Obeama communities in Ahoada West and Oyigbo LGAs of Rivers State. Troops seized a total of over 4,000 litres of stolen crude oil, ovens, receivers and other refining equipment.

Also, in Edo State, troops of 4 Brigade rescued a kidnapped victim during a search and rescue operation in Esan South East LGA, following a gun duel with hoodlums who fled into the forest.

The Nigerian Army reaffirms its unflinching resolve that terrorists and criminals have no hiding place in Nigeria. The NA remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguard law-abiding citizens, protect communities, and create secure environment for agricultural activities and economic growth, in line with the Federal Government’s drive for food security.
