
Nigerian Army Inaugurates Renovated Soldiers Club, Golf Tee Box In Kano
The Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, Major General Gold Chibuisi, has on Saturday 11 October 2025, reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to deepening civil-military relations through sporting and community-based initiatives. He stated this at the commissioning of the renovated Hole number 3 Tee Box at the Kano Golf Club, a project executed by Headquarters 3 Brigade Nigerian Army.
Major General Chibuisi noted that the project keys into the Nigerian Army’s drive towards a cordial civil military cooperation and also embodies the spirit of a historic partnership and collaboration. He noted that the initiative is aimed at fostering mutual trust, understanding, sportsmanship, and cooperation between the military and host communities. He commended the Commander, 3 Brigade, for his leadership and foresight in initiating the project.
The Commander, 3 Brigade, Brigadier General Ahmed Tukur, reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to strengthening civil-military relations through non-kinetic initiatives. He noted that the initiative demonstrates the brigade’s efforts to foster cordial relations with its host community.
Also speaking, Commander Armed Forces Specialist Hospital, Kano, Colonel Ishiaku Abdulkareem, highlighted the historical significance of the Kano Golf Club, which was established in 1908. He noted that the club has hosted several historic events and has a long-standing relationship with the Nigerian Army.
The President of Kano Golf Club, Alhaji Babangida Umar, commended the Nigerian Army for renovating the Golf Tee Box, describing it as a demonstration of the Army’s commitment to strengthening civil-military relations.
In a separate event, General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army, Major General ASM Wase, commissioned the newly renovated Soldiers’ Club at 3 Brigade, Bukavu Barracks. The renovated club provides a functional, comfortable, and morale-boosting facility for soldiers.
The Garrison Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Ikechukwu Ekoh, expressed gratitude to the Brigade Commander for his visionary leadership and steadfast support in renovating the Soldiers’ Club. He noted that the project keys into the COAS’ “Soldier First” policy.
The events demonstrated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to personnel welfare and community engagement.
