Nigerian Army Neutralizes Terrorists, Records Mass Surrenders, Arrests Suspects and Recover Weapons In Fresh Operations

The Nigerian Army has recorded significant operational successes across multiple theatres, neutralizing one terrorist, securing the surrender of eight others, arresting several criminal suspects, and recovering weapons, contraband, and other logistics within the last 48 hours.

In Borno State, troops of 192 Battalion ambushed terrorists around Kuranabasa Village in Gwoza LGA, neutralizing one insurgent while others fled into the Mandara mountains. In a related development, three terrorists surrendered to troops in Gwoza Town, alongside five family members, while another three terrorists surrendered to Nigerien forces in Bosso after trekking for four days from their base in Dogon Jukun.

Troops in Adamawa State sustained momentum against terrorists and criminal collaborators. Patrols by 144 Battalion in Madagali led to the arrest of two suspects smuggling 50 bags of contraband cement, while 271 Task Force Tank Battalion in Michika apprehended two ISWAP/JAS logistics suppliers with eight bags of urea fertilizer. Additionally, troops arrested a suspected kidnapper in Kircinga Village, recovering a locally fabricated weapon and cartridge.

Elsewhere, in Anambra State, joint troops of Sector 5, DSS, police, and vigilantes stormed IPOB/ESN hideouts in Aguata LGA. Though the criminals fled after detonating IEDs, troops destroyed their camp, set ablaze motorcycles and tricycles, and captured a vehicle. Similarly, in Rivers State, troops of 343 Artillery Regiment intercepted a vehicle loaded with 150 litres of illegally refined petroleum products, arresting one suspect, while in Delta State, troops raided criminal hideouts in Uvwie LGA, neutralizing an armed robber, injuring another, and intensifying efforts to apprehend fleeing accomplices.

The Nigerian Army remains resolute in its mission to safeguard lives and property, deny criminals freedom of action, and restore peace and security across the country.
