Nigerian Army Organises 2-Day Training On Financial Management and Service Delivery In Lagos

The 81 Division Nigerian Army conducted a 2-day training session for its officers and soldiers from 29-30 July 2025, at the 81 Division Officers’ Mess, Lagos. The training focused on Financial Management and Service Delivery, with a keen emphasis on imparting practical skills on International Public Sector Accounting Standard (IPSAS) and digital literacy to all Nigerian Army Finance Corps (NAFC) personnel serving under 81 Division’s Area of Responsibility (AOR).

The primary objective of the training was to enhance financial management skills, promote transparency and accountability in compliance with federal government financial policies and extant regulations, and improve professional service delivery within the Nigerian Army.

In his welcome remarks, Lieutenant Colonel Auwal Hussain Muhammad, Acting Commander 81 Division Finance and Accounts, emphasized the significance of the training, themed “Enhancing Proficiency and Accountability in Nigerian Army Financial Services through IPSAS Implementation and Digital Transformation.”
He highlighted the need for a paradigm shift in accounting practices and encouraged participants to leverage the training to improve their skills in records keeping and preparation of accounts. He stressed that effective financial management is crucial to the success of the Nigerian Army’s operations.

In his opening remarks, the Special Guest of Honour, the Chief of Accounts and Budget (Army), Major General Adetokunbo Fayemiwo, represented by Commander, Command Finance Office, Brigadier General CH Ajoku, noted that the training provides an essential platform for updating personnel on contemporary financial policies and global best practices. He emphasized that the Nigerian Army Finance Corps plays a critical role in the operational effectiveness of the NA, both in peace and wartimes.

The training featured a range of topics, including Book-keeping under Accrual Accounting and Preparation of Trial Balance, and Enhancing Force Protection in the Nigerian Army through Improvised Explosive Device Awareness, designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their roles.The training also aligns with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy, which aims to consolidate the transformation of the Nigerian Army into a well-motivated and combat-ready force.

Highlight of the training included lecture presentations, interactive sessions, presentation of souvenirs, and group photographs, marking a successful training session that will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the Nigerian Army’s financial management and service delivery.
